A large antique Indian cast and incised brass oil lamp used for the Hindu prayer rituals. It comprises a flared circular foot, a deep oil reservoir, a long handle and accompanied by a small spoon used to ladle oil from the reservoir. The surface is etched with a floral motif and an image of a six pointed star. Dated from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Presumably originates from the Southern region of India.
