Description

A collection of 14 antique Spanish handwritten letters dated 1890-1891. The letters acted as commercial receipts for cargo ships of the Barcelona-based company Fabra. The ships were circulating between Montevideo, Uruguay and Havana, Cuba. In every receipt letter, there is factual information about the ships, as well as a brief description of the meat market fluctuations. The merchandise was primarily tasajo, a type of dried beaf. In the letters, Spanish Arroba is used as a weight custom. The last letter dated June 20th, 1891 has a special mention of the damages to a corvette ship Sebastiana and the demands for economical reparations for trade losses. Antique Historical Collectables And Documents.
