A Chinese hand-carved dark spinach-green jade pendant representing Guan Yu, a Chinese military general of the late Eastern Han dynasty of China, early 3rd century AD. The item serves as an amulet. Guan Yu was deified in the late 6th century and is still worshipped today as a bodhisattva in Buddhist tradition and as a guardian deity in Chinese folk religion.
