Thanjavur or Tanjore painting is a classical South Indian painting style, originating in the town of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. Thanjavur paintings are characterised by rich and vivid colours, simple iconic composition, glittering gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive gesso work.
