A WWII order of the German Eagle, medal of merit with swords. The round medal with a Maltese cross in the middle is decorated with images of four German eagles on the sides and crossed swords on top. On the back it reads: Deutsche Verdienst Medaille, in English: German Merit Medal. The Order of Merit of the German Eagle was established on May 1, 1937, the first of the Third Reich orders to award citizens of foreign countries. The formal procedure for nomination for the award of the Order was carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Third Reich.
